Mikola Dziadok is a Belarusian anarchist and political prisoner. He wrote this book following his first prison sentence, which he served from 2010 to 2015 for a series of symbolic direct actions targeting institutions of state power, capitalism and labour exploitation. Pardoned in 2015, Dziadok went on to become a prominent blogger, introducing anarchist ideas to broader audiences within the liberal opposition and among progressive youth.
He became widely known for his writings on police brutality, state repression, and systemic injustice in November 2020, he was arrested again – this time for allegedly harming national interest through his publications – and sentenced to another five years in prison. Though he was expected to be released in April 2025, was charged in a new case before his release.
This collection brings together essays written in and about prison. It offers an unflinching look at the machinery of political regression and the everyday realities of incarceration in Belarus, giving voice to resistance from within.
